<h3>8.2.2 QMail SMTP server</h3>
Beyond the integration of qmail into your server
(which is not influenced by TWIG) there is very
little that needs documenting about qmail.
<P>
When not using the SMTP relaying functions of
TWIG, qmail appears to be less prone to bugs than
sendmail. Sendmail will record the web server's
username as the sender while qmail will record the
user who accessed TWIG. SMTP relaying is more
capable than a direct call on either qmail or
sendmail, though. It is recommended that this be
the transportation mechanism used with TWIG.
<P>
If you are using the qmail maildir format patch
for University of Washington's IMAP server, you
may encounter a bug in that patch. Specifically,
the list of folders in various screens in TWIG may
list every folder twice. See the
<A href="uow_imap_server.htm">imap-uw</A> page of
the AdminManual for more details.
<P>
<H4>Common Settings</H4>
Some common settings for TWIG when using qmail
include the following:

<DT>$config["smtp_relay"] = 1;</DT>
<DD>By using this setting, TWIG will use qmail as
an SMTP relaying agent. This is really no
different than how most mail clients send email
over PPP dial-up connections and works quite
well.<DD>

<DT>$config["smtp_port"] = "25";</DT>
<DD>This is almost never set to any other number.
Unless you really know what you're doing, set
this to 25.</DD>
